Outside Sales Representative

An industrial supplies distribution company is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to drive business development throughout the Lynchburg, VA market. This role offers a balanced mix of field-based customer engagement and office-based sales strategy, working with industrial gases, welding equipment, safety products, and related solutions that support manufacturing, machining, fabrication, and industrial operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong sales background within industrial products, manufacturing equipment, machining, industrial supplies, or industrial gas distribution and enjoy building long-term customer relationships while developing new business opportunities.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage an established territory and drive profitable revenue growth through a combination of new business development and account expansion
  • Spend approximately 50% of time in the field meeting with customers and prospects and 50% of time coordinating sales activities, proposals, and account management efforts in office.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with manufacturing, machining, fabrication, construction, and industrial customers
  • Prospect for new business through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and strategic territory planning
  • Identify customer challenges and recommend products, services, and supply solutions that improve operational efficiency and safety
  • Prepare and present pricing proposals, contracts, and long-term supply agreements that create value for both the customer and organization
  • Partner closely with inside sales, operations, delivery, and service teams to ensure customer satisfaction and successful execution
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline, accurate customer records, and consistent follow-up activities within the assigned territory


Requirements:

  • 3+ years of outside sales experience within industrial manufacturing equipment, machining, industrial supplies, welding products, industrial gases, or a related industrial market
  • Proven track record of developing new business while growing existing customer relationships
  • Valid drivers license and ability to drive a company vehicle required
