Our client is one of the world’s largest independent suppliers of heavy-section finished steel castings, specializing in mild and alloy castings. The company serves a diverse range of industries, including oil and gas, hydro-electric, aerospace, construction and mining, pumps and valves, injection molding, stamping, and machine tooling.
Position Overview
The Operations Manager will oversee daily operations within the Machining division, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and a safe working environment. This role is responsible for driving operational performance across key functional areas, including the melting shop and quality/finishing departments, while supporting overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations (60–70 employees)
- Oversee production planning, scheduling, and workflow to meet customer demands and deadlines
- Ensure adherence to quality standards across melting, casting, and finishing processes
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and cost reduction
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including machining, engineering, and leadership
- Monitor key performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed
- Develop, coach, and mentor supervisors and production staff
- Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–10+ years of operations or production leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Foundry, metal casting, or heavy manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Proven track record of improving operational performance and leading teams
- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality systems, and safety standards
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
