NPI Engineer Overview

We are is seeking an NPI Engineer I to support the transition of new and existing products into efficient, scalable manufacturing processes. The NPI Engineer I role is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in a production environment while working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and operations teams.


NPI Engineer I Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain work instructions, routings, and tooling/fixture requirements
  • Support design, build, and validation of manufacturing tools and fixtures
  • Assist with prototype builds, pilot runs, and new product introductions (NPI)
  • Coordinate materials, tooling, and test readiness for production trials
  • Create and maintain assembly, testing, and inspection documentation
  • Conduct time studies, process mapping, and production data collection
  • Analyze data to support improvements in cycle time, quality, and efficiency
  • Execute process validation activities and implement approved changes
  • Support first article inspections and industrial validation deliverables
  • Assist with process capability, capacity planning, and line readiness
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve issues
  • Train and support production personnel on manufacturing processes
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and 5S standards


NPI Engineer Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 0–2 years of experience (minimum of internships, co-ops, or manufacturing projects required)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with process documentation, BOMs, and routings
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; exposure to ERP or MES systems is a plus

Preferred:

  • Experience with electromechanical or electronics-based products
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, molding, welding, assembly)
  • Understanding of GD&T and basic statistical analysis
  • Exposure to root cause and corrective action methodologies
  • Familiarity with CAD or 3D modeling tools
  • PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes (SMT, soldering, coating, testing)
  • Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles
