Job Title: Molding Operator
Job Description

The Molding Operator sets up and operates molding equipment to produce high-quality silicone rubber implantable medical device components in a GMP-compliant clean-room environment. This role involves working with small parts, performing detailed quality inspections, and operating various molding and machine tools across multiple shifts to support consistent and reliable production.

Responsibilities

  • Operate molding machines, presses, and related equipment to produce silicone rubber implantable medical device components according to specifications and work instructions.
  • Work in a GMP clean-room environment and strictly follow all clean-room safety protocols, gowning procedures, and contamination-control practices.
  • Handle, assemble, and process small parts and components with a high level of precision and attention to detail.
  • Perform quality checks and visual inspections of molded parts using microscopes, gauges, and other inspection tools to ensure part quality and compliance with standards.
  • Monitor machine performance, identify basic issues, and assist with troubleshooting molding and injection molding equipment as needed.
  • Perform general production tasks such as labeling, basic assembly, and material handling to support overall manufacturing flow.
  • Use computers and microscope stations at each molding work area to review part specifications, document inspections, and record production data.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, GMP guidelines, and safety policies at all times while working with molding machines and other production equipment.
  • Communicate production or quality issues clearly to leads and team members to support timely resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment, supporting coworkers and contributing to a smooth and efficient production process.
  • Work assigned shift hours (1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift) and perform overtime as needed, including 8-hour shifts on Saturdays.
Essential Skills
  • 1–3 years of experience in production, general labor, or material handling.
  • Comfort working in a GMP clean-room environment and following strict cleanliness and safety protocols.
  • Experience working with small parts or inventory handling in a production setting.
  • Ability to perform quality checks and inspections on parts with strong attention to detail.
  • Basic machine operating experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate issues clearly to leads and work effectively in a team setting.
  • Reliable work ethic and consistent job tenure demonstrating long-term commitment.
  • Comfort wearing full clean-room gowning and adhering to all gowning and de-gowning procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in the medical device industry.
  • Experience working in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience using microscopes and small hand tools for inspection or assembly.
  • Prior molding operation experience, including injection molding or plastic molding.
  • Experience operating brake press machines or other production machinery.
  • Background in general production, assembly, labeling, and machine operation.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for molding or injection molding equipment.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection tools such as gauges and other measurement devices.

Work Environment

This role is based entirely in a GMP-compliant clean-room manufacturing facility. Upon entering, you will use a designated gowning area where you clean off your shoes to remove dust and dirt and fully gown up in clean-room attire before accessing production areas. While on contract, you will wear shoe covers; once permanent, you receive dedicated clean-room footwear such as Crocs. The production floor consists of individual stations equipped with injection molding machines and a computer/microscope station behind each operator for part inspection and documentation. You will work around molding machines, brake press machines, and other production equipment, handling small silicone components and medical device parts. Multiple shifts are available: 1st shift (5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.), with overtime commonly scheduled as 8-hour shifts on Saturdays. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.95/hr.
