Job Title: Cleanroom Production Operator

Job Description

The Cleanroom Production Operator works in a controlled cleanroom environment within the Trimming, Molding, or Mill/Mix departments to support the manufacture of high-quality silicone and plastic medical components. This role operates specialized equipment, performs precise manual tasks, and conducts detailed inspections to ensure all products meet strict process, quality, and cosmetic standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate molding equipment, including molding presses and injection molding machines, to produce silicone and plastic components that meet established process and quality standards.
  • Load raw materials into molding machines, monitor machine operation, and remove molded parts safely and efficiently.
  • Perform basic in-process inspections on molded parts to verify dimensions, quality, and conformance to specifications.
  • Document production data accurately, including counts, measurements, and process parameters, and report any process or equipment issues promptly.
  • Trim flash and excess material from molded parts using hand tools to achieve required dimensions and cosmetic standards.
  • Perform detailed visual inspections of molded components, including microscope inspection, to identify defects such as tears, bubbles, and incomplete fill.
  • Prepare and process raw silicone and plastic materials by weighing, mixing, and milling them according to batch records and formulas.
  • Operate mixing and milling equipment safely and consistently to produce compounds used in medical device manufacturing.
  • Follow cleanroom protocols, gowning procedures, and standard operating procedures to maintain a controlled and contamination-free environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, and support continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the production departments.

Essential Skills

  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment and following cleanroom protocols.
  • Ability to operate production equipment such as molding presses, injection molding machines, mixers, and milling equipment.
  • Strong hand dexterity and fine motor skills for trimming, assembly, and detailed manual work.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection, including microscope inspection, to identify small defects and cosmetic issues.
  • Experience in production, assembly, or medical device manufacturing environments.
  • Basic documentation skills to record production data and communicate process issues clearly.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to meeting strict quality and cosmetic standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in medical assembly or medical device production.
  • Familiarity with inspection practices in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working with silicone and plastic materials in a production setting.
  • Ability to follow batch records, formulas, and written work instructions accurately.
  • Willingness to learn and work across multiple departments such as Trimming, Molding, and Mill/Mix.

Work Environment

This role is based in a very clean, well-lit production facility with a brand-new cleanroom environment established in 2021 and further expansions planned. Work takes place in a climate-controlled cleanroom where employees follow gowning and cleanliness protocols to maintain strict contamination control. Operators regularly use molding presses, injection molding machines, mixing and milling equipment, microscopes, and hand tools while working at production stations designed for precision and comfort.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
