Job Title: Millwright Mechanic
Job Description

This Millwright Mechanic role supports a heavy manufacturing operation by rebuilding equipment, performing complex mechanical repairs, welding and fabrication, and maintaining production machinery to minimize downtime. You work hands-on with large industrial equipment in a rough, fast-paced environment, using your mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete equipment rebuilds, including teardown, inspection, repair, and reassembly of industrial machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on production and support equipment.
  • Perform welding and fabrication using stick and MIG processes, cutting torches, grinding tools, and related equipment.
  • Install, align, and maintain industrial machinery such as conveyors, motors, gearboxes, presses, rollers, and related components.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings to plan and perform repairs and installations.
  • Use precision measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators, to verify tolerances and proper alignment.
  • Perform rigging, lifting, and safe movement of heavy equipment and components using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery and document all work performed in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Support production teams with urgent repairs and maintenance activities to reduce downtime and maintain output.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe, clean, and reliable operating condition.
  • Work safely around moving machinery, welding operations, and fabrication work while following all safety procedures and using required PPE.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues on rollers and extrusion machines to support consistent product quality.
  • Assist with rebuilds, machining tasks, and heavy equipment repair as needed to support overall maintenance activities.
Essential Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on repair experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate, including structural and mechanical repairs using stick and MIG welding processes.
  • Experience working in heavy or rough manufacturing environments with large industrial equipment.
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and industrial shop equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and follow detailed repair procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and determine effective repair strategies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Physical ability to frequently stand, bend, climb, and work in tight or elevated spaces.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move components up to 50 pounds, and more with assistance when required.
  • Comfort working in environments with heat, noise, dust, grease, and other industrial conditions.
  • Ability to wear and work in steel-toe boots and other personal protective equipment for extended periods.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a millwright or industrial mechanic in a heavy manufacturing setting.
  • Welding certifications in MIG, stick, or fabrication disciplines.
  • Experience with equipment rebuilds, machining operations, or heavy equipment repair.
  • Rigging experience, including safe lifting and moving of heavy machinery and components.
  • Forklift experience for moving materials and equipment within the facility.
  • Experience troubleshooting rollers and extrusion machines.
  • Ability to operate manual mills and lathes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industrial systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, presses, and rollers.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with urgent repair demands and production support needs.

Work Environment

This role operates in a heavy industrial, automotive-related manufacturing setting with moving machinery, welding operations, fabrication work, and large production equipment. The environment is rough, dirty at times due to the nature of the product and processes, and physically demanding, with frequent exposure to heat, noise, dust, grease, and typical industrial hazards. Work is fast-paced and driven by production needs, with urgent repair situations and ongoing support for manufacturing lines. You regularly work around presses, rollers, extrusion machines, and other heavy equipment, using industrial tools and precision instruments. Steel-toe boots and appropriate personal protective equipment are required and worn for extended periods to ensure safety while performing all tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clinton, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.50 - $25.50/hr.
