Job Description
Pride Health is seeking an experienced Travel Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for an urgent 3-week assignment in Erie, PA. The MLT will perform routine laboratory testing under the supervision of Medical Technologists and Laboratory Leadership while ensuring accurate and timely patient results.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory testing using automated and manual methodologies.
- Process and analyze patient specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Review, verify, and release test results accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain specimen integrity throughout the testing process.
- Perform quality control procedures and document all QC activities.
- Conduct instrument maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting as required.
- Follow laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, testing, and reporting.
- Identify and report testing issues or performance concerns to laboratory leadership.
- Document corrective actions and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Report critical values according to established protocols.
- Maintain laboratory compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards.
- Participate in department training, educational programs, and safety initiatives.
- Assist with maintaining reagent inventory and monitoring expiration dates.
- Support laboratory operations and perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Laboratory Science, or related field required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related science preferred.
- 1–3 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to prioritize workload and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
Required Pennsylvania Clearances & Compliance
Candidates must be able to obtain and/or provide:
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
- Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History Clearance
- Pennsylvania Department of Health & Human Services Requirements
- Pennsylvania Department of Aging Clearance
Additional Requirements:
- MMR Immunity Documentation
- Hepatitis B Immunity or Declination
- Recent Quantiferon/TB Test
Fingerprinting Requirement:
Candidates who have not been Pennsylvania residents for at least two consecutive years may be required to complete fingerprinting through the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.
