Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Description

As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for managing 18-22 patients for a single physician on a daily basis. You will conduct comprehensive patient workups, including gathering previous medical history, performing manual vitals, drawing blood, and reconciling medications. Experience with drawing blood using both straight needle and butterfly techniques is essential. An added advantage is having experience with elderly patients, as the primary demographic is individuals aged 55 and above, focusing on the underserved population.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct full patient workups, including obtaining previous medical history.
  • Perform manual vitals and blood draws using both straight needle and butterfly techniques.
  • Reconcile medications accurately for each patient.
  • Provide compassionate care to a primarily geriatric patient demographic.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records using the EMR system.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in phlebotomy and blood draw techniques.
  • Completion of a nationally accredited program as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT, or Paramedic.
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a relevant healthcare role.
  • Certification in BLS for Healthcare Providers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is preferred.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.

Work Environment

The work schedule is from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You will be responsible for rooming 18-22 patients daily, with patient appointments scheduled at 30-minute intervals.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
