Prototype Assembly Technician

Redmond, WA

Long term Contract

We are looking for a Prototype Assembly Technician specializing in optical system assembly and custom tool operation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in opto-mechanical and electrical assembly techniques (soldering, lamination, machining) and has a good attention to organization and cleanliness. The ideal candidate should be extremely motivated and able to work independently and with ambiguity. Experience in optical, mechanical and electrical testing is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Mechanical background and aptitude.
• 5+ years of experience in a related technical field.
• BS in ME, optics or related technical field.
• Experience in R&D lab for product development.
• Rapid prototyping (multi-disciplinary collection of skills).
• Laser safety experience.
• Calibration experience (camera based sensors).
• Experience authoring SOPs for assembly and test.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with clean room procedures and equipment.
• Optical metrology experience.
• Prior work in AR/VR or optical consumer products.

Must-Have Skills:

• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and mechanical models.
• Clear and concise documentation of assembly and test procedures and reports.
• Familiarity with safely operating lasers (up to Class 3B/3R).

Nice-to-have Skills:

• NX.
• Vendor interactions - explore new sources of tools, processes and materials.
• Python, C++.
