Job Title: Mechanical Project EngineerJob DescriptionThe purpose of this position is to serve as the HRSG project engineer, supporting proposal and contract execution teams for purchased Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) used in combined cycle power plants. This role involves significant interaction with applications engineering, global sourcing, customer teams, site personnel, and project management teams.
Responsibilities
- Review technical specifications from clients against product offerings and provide comments.
- Prepare technical specifications for HRSG purchase, including Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, Detailed Technical Specifications, performance requirements, guarantee requirements, Scope of Supply/Division of Responsibility Documents, Emission Requirements, and Bill of Quantities.
- Review project requirements for emission guarantees and develop emission guarantees for client proposals.
- Coordinate with HRSG and Catalyst suppliers to establish emission guarantees for proposals.
- Collaborate with offsite/overseas teams on HRSG-related scope of work.
- Participate in contract negotiations with suppliers and act as the subject matter expert for technical discussions.
- Advise on HRSG Thermal Performance requirements for proposals and projects.
- Ensure HRSG proposals meet standards and customer requirements.
- Resolve technical concerns with customers prior to contract award and during contract execution.
- Review supplied drawings and design data for compliance with standards and customer requirements.
- Lead design reviews with suppliers, clients, and EPC contractors to ensure project success.
- Support project management and global sourcing teams in resolving commercial issues.
- Travel to plant sites to address technical issues related to HRSG design, installation, or performance.
- Support initiatives for plant and product improvements.
- Mentor team engineers and provide guidance on HRSG engineering activities.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and standardizations within the team.
Essential Skills- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university.
- At least 5 years of experience in HRSG project engineering or HRSG design engineering roles.
- Experience in project design and execution in combined cycle power projects.
- Knowledge of HRSG components and systems, as well as combined cycle power plants.
- Familiarity with Section 1 and B31.1 of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and regulations.
- Strong reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Knowledge of database software, project management software, graphics, technical diagrams, and flow charts.
- Experience with lean six sigma, mechanical design, application engineering, gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and thermal analysis.
