The Manufacturing Engineer plans, designs, and supports manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems within an industrial plant environment. This role supports both manufacturing and quality functions, working with mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and systems across existing product lines and new product launches. Assignments are moderately complex and require initiative, sound judgment, and strong collaboration within cross-functional teams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and improve manufacturing processes, production methods, plant layout and equipment to enhance safety, quality, cost, and efficiency. Resolve technical and quality-related issues and recommend continuous improvement solutions. Determine manufacturing capacity, support production scheduling, and assist with time and cost estimates.
- Provide engineering support for existing product lines and new product launches.
- Conceive, plan, develop, and coordinate engineering projects as an individual contributor or member of a cross-functional team.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation such as bills of materials, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Develop prototypes and test plans; conduct validation and engineering studies as required.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve manufacturing, quality, and engineering project issues by investigating advanced methodology and production techniques.
- Complete engineering analysis and designs using state-of-the-art engineering tools and risk assessment methodologies.
- Lead or support smaller ITW Toolbox initiatives, including In-Lining, MRD, PLS, and 80/20 evaluations.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within cost targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2–3 years of engineering-related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and/or quality functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other engineering-related software and technologies.
- Ability to use engineering analysis and risk assessment tools.
- Proven ability to manage projects within schedule and cost constraints.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across the organization and externally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, negotiation, and consultative skills.
- Creative, adaptable, flexible, and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and organizational skills.
