Location: First project in Robstown, TX followed by a project in Houston, TX

Short 3-month contract to hire

Pay: $60-$75/hour

Overview

Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and review of industrial plant systems within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on equipment and utility systems that keep operations running, not building HVAC.

Day to Day

• Review and validate mechanical designs and system layouts
• Work with process and utility systems across the plant
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams
• Support troubleshooting and performance improvements for plant systems
• Assist with equipment readiness, startup, and commissioning

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
• Hands-on experience with multiple of the following: Pumps, Compressors, Cooling systems (cooling towers or chilled water), Heat exchangers, Fluid or gas systems, Water or wastewater systems
• Experience supporting or understanding plant systems (not just components)

Bonus Skills & Experience

• Experience reviewing P&IDs or system layouts
• Equipment sizing, selection, or technical review experience
• Exposure to commissioning, startup, or troubleshooting
• Experience working in EPC or design environments
