Role: Mechanical Design EngineerClient: Defense-AerospaceHourly Rate: up to $70/hr (W2, non-benefited) Length: 5-months Location:Grand Prairie, TXClearance: Candidate must have the Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance. Not needed to start.Description:- Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
- Develop basic data and create preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes to present design proposals.
- Investigate pertinent design factors including ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
- Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development.
- Create layouts of assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products.
- Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
- Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.
Technical Skills & Qualifications- Minimum 6 years of mechanical design experience in Military, Defense, or UAS systems, including small air vehicle design and development
- Proven 6+ years of experience delivering design concepts, detailed drawings, and hardware through prototype and/or production stages
- Minimum 6 years of experience using PLM/ERP tools (e.g., Windchill) for change control, configuration management, and traceability
- Strong attention to detail demonstrated through 6+ years of professional experience
- In‑depth knowledge of complex mechanical and electrical concepts with 4+ years of experience
- Proficiency in Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) with 2+ years of hands‑on experience
- Practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) with 2+ years of experience
- Experience performing part tolerancing with 2+ years of experience
- Experience creating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) with 1+ year of experience
- Strong analytical skills to resolve weight, performance, and requirements trade‑offs
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary design teams
Required Education and Experience:B.S. or higher in Mechnical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience; must possess 6+ years of related experience
