The Bi-Lingual (Spanish) Applications Engineer works with sales and customers to develop unique concepts for automated assembly and test equipment. The role is crucial to the sales success and integrity with customers. Once a concept is developed, the Applications Engineer will research requirements, determine overall costs and write a customer quotation, while following all the applicable standards and procedures of PIA Automation.

  • Develop new and template concepts in a layout for automation processes. Brainstorm & review with engineering.
  • Research major purchase components used in concepts. Generate RFQ’s to suppliers that specify customer part & process requirements. Evaluate supplier quotes, and produce budget costs.
  • Develop cycle time charts for each process step and carve out USPs and differentiators.
  • Estimate design and build time, as well as components costs and lead times
  • Write a customer quote that describes equipment functionality and pricing
  • Obtain approvals from management and sales relative to pricing and delivery, and when completed, send final quote to sales manager.
  • Archive and work with designated project folders
  • Attend project “kick-off” meetings, and present quote to the Execution Team
  • Attend project team meetings and support the Engineering team’s project startup.


Requirements

  • Fluent in both English and (native) Spanish
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Solidworks, AutoCad, and Excel
  • Project Management certification preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of manufacturing experience, preferably in automation industry and in similar roles
  • Minimum two (2) years of project management experience required
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings and master complex manufacturing tasks
  • Ability to grasp and develop sophisticated technical concepts and present them understandable yet illustrate PIA’s key selling points
  • Above average attention to detail, well organized and able to work under time pressure
