Every month, thousands of dogs eagerly await their Genius Dog box filled with toys, treats, games, and activities designed to challenge their minds and strengthen the bond with their humans.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Marketing Director to lead our marketing strategy and help scale the Genius Dog brand.

This is a key leadership role responsible for driving customer acquisition, retention, brand awareness, and revenue growth. You'll oversee performance marketing, lifecycle marketing, content, partnerships, and brand initiatives while working closely with leadership to shape the future of the company.

Who you are

  • You've scaled a subscription, DTC, or consumer brand before to seven figures annual revenue.
  • You're equally comfortable reviewing Meta performance, planning lifecycle campaigns, developing creative strategy, and analyzing retention metrics.
  • You know how to balance brand building with performance marketing and can move quickly without a large team.

What You'll Do


Marketing Strategy & Growth


  • Develop and execute Genius Dog's overall marketing strategy
  • Drive customer acquisition, subscription growth, retention, and revenue performance
  • Establish marketing goals, KPIs, and reporting frameworks
  • Identify growth opportunities across paid, organic, referral, partnership, and community channels
  • Partner with leadership to align marketing initiatives with business objectives


Performance Marketing

  • Own customer acquisition efforts across digital marketing channels including Meta, Google, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms
  • Manage agency partners, contractors, and external marketing resources
  • Optimize customer acquisition cost (CAC), return on ad spend (ROAS), and lifetime value (LTV)
  • Test and scale new acquisition channels and campaigns
  • Analyze performance data and make data-driven decisions to improve results


Brand & Content Marketing

  • Strengthen and evolve the Genius Dog brand across all customer touchpoints
  • Oversee content strategy across social media, email, website, blog, and video channels
  • Develop compelling storytelling that resonates with dog owners and reinforces the Genius Dog mission
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging and creative execution across all marketing initiatives


Retention & Lifecycle Marketing

  • Develop strategies to improve subscriber retention and customer lifetime value
  • Oversee email marketing, SMS marketing, customer journeys, and loyalty initiatives
  • Partner with customer experience teams to improve engagement and satisfaction
  • Identify opportunities to reduce churn and increase recurring revenue


Partnerships & Community

  • Build relationships with influencers, creators, affiliates, veterinarians, trainers, and pet-focused organizations
  • Develop partnership programs that expand brand awareness and customer acquisition
  • Foster a strong and engaged community of Genius Dog customers and advocates


Team Leadership

  • Build, manage, and develop a high-performing marketing team
  • Establish clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations
  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, experimentation, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, product, customer experience, and leadership teams


What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Experience in e-commerce, subscription commerce, consumer products, direct-to-consumer brands, or related industries
  • Proven track record of driving customer acquisition and revenue growth
  • Strong understanding of paid media, lifecycle marketing, retention, and brand strategy
  • Experience managing marketing budgets and performance metrics
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Strong creative instincts combined with data-driven decision making
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment


Bonus Points

  • Experience with subscription-based businesses
  • Experience in pet products, consumer goods, or lifestyle brands
  • Familiarity with Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta Ads, Google Ads, and marketing analytics platforms
  • Experience working with influencers, creators, and affiliate programs
  • Startup or high-growth company experience
