What You Will Do:
Pratt & Whitney’s Operational Excellence (OpX) Core Manufacturing Engineering Organization is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Technical Lead to join our Advanced Manufacturing Processes Laboratory (AMPL).
In this role, you will:
- Drive the development and maturation of new manufacturing technologies and processes, progressing them through Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) and Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) to ensure readiness for production implementation.
- Lead efforts to transform the Advanced Manufacturing Processes Laboratory into a cutting-edge Industry 4.0 testing and development space, integrating smart manufacturing technologies and digital capabilities.
- Oversee upgrades and integration of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) layers to create a connected, data-driven manufacturing environment.
- Develop strategies for the adoption of advanced sensors, IoT-enabled equipment, and real-time data analytics to enhance process monitoring, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and lead processes for grinding, milling, EDM, deburring, and other manufacturing techniques for high-temperature turbine airfoil components and other part family machined engine parts.
- Manage the integration and development of AI-enabled manufacturing technologies, including robotic/AI pilot initiatives to enhance process capability, consistency, and productivity.
- Design and execute experiments to validate new manufacturing technologies and processes in a simulated Industry 4.0 environment, ensuring scalability and robustness for production applications.
- Provide technical manufacturing engineering support to PW Module Centers and suppliers while recommending and driving functional strategies.
- Oversee project management, operation planning, programming, tooling, and development process delivery for new and existing manufacturing processes.
- Act as a focal point for the lab's Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and support financial forecasts and capital purchases.
- Lead the implementation of new capital equipment—from specification and ordering through delivery, installation, and transition to production.
- Mentor, coach, and supervise manufacturing engineers (full-time, rotational, and interns).
- Expand laboratory services, manage SharePoint, and co-develop strategy for AMPL and long-range planning.

- Advanced technical knowledge of cutting tool applications and design for complex part geometries and high-temperature materials.
- Robust methods for scaling innovative manufacturing processes and technologies while ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Best practices for supervising and mentoring engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering and shop operations with technical expertise in machining centers, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Proven experience in developing and maturing new manufacturing technologies and processes through MRL and TRL stages.
- Experience with implementing and managing Industry 4.0 technologies, including IT/OT integration and IoT adoption.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Expertise in grind processes, 5-axis machining, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in transitioning innovative manufacturing technologies to production environments.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with Solumina, SAP MES, and Smartsheet.
- Experience in implementing and managing Industry 4.0 technologies, including industrial automation, IoT-enabled devices, and connected manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of MRL and TRL frameworks and how to apply them effectively in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to mentor, train, and supervise engineers and interns.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
