Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineering Test Technician is responsible for supporting the Manufacturing Engineering Department and Production for product test and initial power-up and will assist in development of process improvements. This position will work directly with assemblers, technicians and engineers and will be responsible for training manufacturing personnel. In addition, this position supports Production and field teams with troubleshooting, debug operations, and sustaining engineering of existing products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides test & electrical support to the Manufacturing Engineering & Production departments

  • Applies electrical engineering and test concepts in low-volume/high-configurability manufacturing environment

  • Creates and updates engineering and/or manufacturing documentation (cables, schematics, and work instructions) to meet current standards

  • Works directly with assemblers, technicians and engineers with a hands-on approach to identify improvement opportunities and root cause problem solve

  • Trains manufacturing personnel on new or updated test processes

  • Performs in-process (sub-assemblies, finished goods), and other test activities as required

  • Contributes to continuous improvement of existing test processes and procedures, as well as the development of testing for new products

  • Carries out initial power-up testing and debugs of finished products on the manufacturing line

  • Performs other duties as assigned

     

Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years manufacturing technical experience with electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, and test

  • Preferred certificate program or trade school in electrical/electronics

  • Ability to work hands on with and analyze electro-mechanical assemblies

  • Ability to interpret Drawings & Schematics at a basic level

  • Skilled in finding route cause in a complex electro-mechanical system

  • Strong interpersonal, time management, analytical and communication skills

  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling system (DraftSight/AutoCAD) operation at a basic to intermediate level; SolidWorks Electrical preferred

  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment, work under pressure and adapt to a changing environment

  • Practical analytical and problem-solving skills for electrical wiring and assemblies

  • Experience in system power-up and functional test

  • Proficient use of measuring instruments such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscope, etc

  • Preferred knowledge of J-STD-001, IPC-610 & IPC-620

  • Attention to detail with minimum supervision

  • Well written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite o

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Expected pay range is between $60,000.00-$78,000.00 per year.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must be able to navigate a manufacturing environment and reach items both high and low and must have the ability to regularly lift and/or maneuver up to 50 pounds. Employee is also frequently required to operate common handheld power tools in a safe manner. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employee must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions and temperatures in the manufacturing warehouse.
