About The Role

Our firm is partnered with a U.S.-based discrete manufacturing organization to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to support production and process improvement initiatives. This is a general engineering role with flexibility across manufacturing industries. The team is seeking someone with hands-on manufacturing exposure and a strong mindset for process documentation, standardization, and continuous improvement.

This role supports the transition of products from development into manufacturing while improving production efficiency, quality, and repeatability. Lean experience is valued, but deep specialization is not required—practical manufacturing experience and problem-solving skills are key.

Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical and production support across new and existing manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include improving work cells, documentation, training materials, and supporting quality and Lean initiatives across the facility.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Supporting engineering and manufacturing projects to ensure timely completion of deliverables
  • Communicating project status, risks, and milestones with manufacturing and cross-functional teams
  • Identifying and driving manufacturing process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency
  • Supporting Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including basic 5S implementation and sustainment
  • Participating in new product design reviews to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Developing and improving process documentation to support standardized manufacturing practices
  • Assisting with implementation of change requests related to designs, tolerances, processes, or components
  • Supporting root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for production and quality issues
  • Developing work cell layouts, facility layouts, and supporting manufacturing flow improvements
  • Serving as a technical training resource for production staff on new or revised processes and equipment
  • Supporting quality expectations through data analysis, standards definition, and conformance tracking

This role works closely with production, quality, and engineering teams in both office and manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting manufacturing operations or production environments
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience with exposure to process improvement or process documentation
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts (formal certification not required)
  • Experience supporting or improving manufacturing processes, work instructions, or standard work
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Proficiency with common Microsoft applications and ERP systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and GD&T
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 processes
  • Experience with CAD or manufacturing software (e.g., AutoCAD, solid modeling, CAM tools)
  • Exposure to CNC machining environments or manufacturing automation
  • Experience supporting layout planning, jigs, fixtures, or inspection methods
  • Prior involvement in Lean or continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, waste reduction)
