Position Overview

The 2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and guidance of the manufacturing maintenance technicians as assigned. They will direct all maintenance activities for their respective area with a clear goal of continuously improving equipment uptime, OEE, PM completion, and customer service. Clear communications with the Production & Quality departments, the Maintenance Superintendent and Maintenance Technicians is an essential function of this job. Assists the Maintenance Manager in meeting not only department performance targets but the entire organization relating to Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost on a continuous basis.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and assigns the work of manufacturing maintenance employees.
  • Inspects work for completeness.
  • Determines materials, equipment, and supplies to be used for assigned tasks. Transfers equipment and personnel from one project to another as necessary.
  • Keep track of employee’s attendance and other routine records.
  • Coordinates or installs, inspects, repairs and maintains the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in the press room related equipment.
  • Responsible to ensure team members wear required PPE and is aware of all safety key points related to their work area.
  • Ensures proper lockout/tag out procedures are followed.
  • Accountable for data entry and accuracy of PLEX and other software pertaining to maintenance systems.
  • Accountable for problem solving activities (8Ds, 5 WHYs, etc.).
  • Reviews the PM backlog and assist in developing a weekly schedule on 100% resources usage.
  • Must know the operating condition of all equipment and facilities in their area of responsibility.
  • Validates all work request, approves priorities, and routes work requests to planner.
  • Leads weekly/ daily department communication meetings.
  • Identifying and communicating emergency or breakdown work needs, the maintenance supervisor works with the planner to ensure the necessary labor and parts are available to execute the work.
  • The position is responsible for leadership and guidance of the manufacturing maintenance team.
  • Collects and reports data; monitoring progress, implementing rotation plans, resolving problems, and reporting issues to manager, provides results on shift summaries.
  • Conducts assigned LPAs, 5S and other audits as assigned.
  • Attend learning opportunities for professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/training sessions as offered and available.
  • Development of effective staffing and resource deployment plans to meet production needs. This includes daily personnel deployment in zones as well as training and skills development plans (cross training plans) of employees.
  • Responsible to accommodate the personal development needs for capable individuals, absenteeism/vacations, anticipated staff transitions (e.g. retirements, transfers), and capability to flex resources for plant load and mix variations.
  • Take preventative actions that maintain worker safety, product quality, overall equipment effectiveness, productivity, and cost targets.
  • Performs performance evaluations of employees as scheduled while providing constructive feedback on an ongoing basis.
  • All other duties as assigned.
