Summary: Assists the Maintenance Management Team with inspection, evaluation, and improvement process of bakery equipment. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Acquires knowledge of Martins equipment and processes through working with maintenance team members on the production floor.

  • Assist Maintenance Managers and Maintenance Planner with project management duties including but not limited to evaluating equipment, soliciting quotes, meeting with vendors, reviewing proposals and evaluating options, preparing project approval packets, creating purchase orders, scheduling work, project oversight, preparing regular communications of projects underway, punch list evaluation of completed work, communication to team members.

  • Assists in the development of a PLC and plant controls systems upgrade project. Works cooperatively with PLC Technicians to understand equipment function, gathering of data including locations and counts, preparing upgrade documents with costs and parts timelines, preparing PowerPoint and Word documents for fund allocation.

  • With direction of Maintenance Managers assists with vibration analysis initiatives on select equipment. Duties include verification of sensors and equipment, preparation and analysis of reports and recommendations, investigation into Maintenance Team improvement using vibration analysis. Prepares Proposals for Improvements.

  • Assist inventory team with selection of parts needed for new equipment or equipment upgrades. Duties can also include organization of parts room, moving parts, preparing documents and spreadsheets detailing parts areas, assistance coordinating remote parts areas organization and documentation.

  • Provides Maintenance Managers with various reports needed to justify capital expenditures and equipment upgrades such as: production scrap reports, labor reports, equipment failure analysis reports, Parts used summaries, etc.

  • Reports and adheres to safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

  • As part of the process of evaluation of equipment for improvement, and in conjunction with a Martins skilled Maintenance Technician, assists with maintenance duties including but not limited to: dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, lubricates and cleans parts, performs preventative maintenance, Repairs equipment, starts a device to test their performance, follows safety procedures and regulations.
  • Works flexible hours to meet project/task deadlines.
  • Communicates with Maintenance Manager, Assistant Manager, and Maintenance Supervisor regarding task assignment, task completion and deviation from task schedule.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of work area.
  • Assists the Maintenance Trainer in preparing Maintenance Service Training on new equipment.
  • Assists in training of Maintenance Technicians on new equipment.

  • Assists with preparation and review of SOP’s and variations of PMs for new equipment.

Education and/or Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED;

· Some background in maintenance preferred.

· Completed or currently enrolled in an Engineering or Maintenance collegiate or other post high school secondary educational program.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Working Knowledge of design software.

· Working Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook software required.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
