MajorDuties

  • - Performs two or more of the following non-leader duties: Wood Working: Fabricates mill work required for maintenance, repair, and modifications of base facilities; Take dimensions, prepares sketches as necessary for fabrication of portions of the work typical of the shop. including but not limited to doors, paneling, windows trim in office and workspaces, planers, jointers, rip, cutoff, band saw and table saws etc. installs fabricated items. Constructs jigs as necessary to accomplish work working jobs. Measures· cuts and applies laminate counter tops, fits and finishes hard surface counter tops and benches. Sheet Metal Mechanic: Fabricate, install and/or repairs various sheet metal assemblies items and parts required in the maintenance of buildings and structures, and the maintenance of various metal roof assemblies. Installs and/or repairs openers and closers on metallic windows and doors. Repair and/or replaces screens and frames on metal framed windows. Cuts and manufacturing frames. Installs exhausting pipe on gas and oil-fired furnaces. Lays out and installs various metal roofs in repairing or making additions to buildings and personnel type. Door Systems/Welding: Repair and/or install Overhead door systems to include welding and fabricating braces/brackets as necessary for overhead door operation utilizing acetylene/oxygen and electric arc. Shear metal/materials for fabrication/repair of equipment used in the operation and maintenance of building and structures. Welds, cutes, threads metal pieces used to repair equipment, doors, hinges, etc on hanger doors and other doors and windows, repairs broken parts and motorized gates of both vehicular and personnel type. - Responsible for leading workers in following planned tasks: Leads workers by assisting in the determination of equipment, facilities and materials to be used on a daily or by project basis. Ensures the crew members adheres to work priorities, project schedules, resources and detailed work plans established by the supervisor. Attends scheduling, design review, and element meetings. Tracks and reports progress on work assignments and requests authority to adjust worker assignments. Recommends to the supervisor changes to schedule, priorities, and work sequences as necessary and makes minor deviations in procedures or redirects resources under their control to overcome problems such as equipment failure, material delays, or unplanned absences. Provides guidance, on-the-job training, safety instruction, and relays information and instructions from supervisor to crewmembers. Reports status or work. Fills in for supervisor in his absence, authorized to sign emergency leave forms. - Performs work direction responsibilities. Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and help in accomplishing work steps and processes. Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems, reassigns personnel within crew being lead; and coordinates work among crew members to maintain work progress to meet schedules. Inspects completed work for quality and work order requirements. Reports possible or actual work delays to supervisors. - Ensures that employees being lead utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of his/her required safety equipment and clothing that of crew members. Ensures federal and state rules are followed when storing, using, handling, labeling, and disposing of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with environmental standards, ensures the proper clean-up cleaning of equipment, sweeping, straightening, and lining up tools, and other property in the assigned area. - Uses and maintains tools. Maintains bench stock levels of parts, materials, tools, and equipment at prescribed levels. Uses plumb line, caulk lines, levels, and dividers, calipers, marking gauges framing squares, jointers, shapers, routers, saws, and lathes. Operates and maintains complex hand and power tools and equipment, such as slip roll forming machines, box and pan brakes rotary machines with extra farming rolls, and crimping burring, turning, and beading machines, and soldering and welding equipment to fabricate arid repair items. Uses drill presses, rivet guns, punches, metal saws templates, unit shears, power hand saw, power band saw, universal grinder, electric sander, and other tools of the trade. Uses skill saw, as, pick, and chisels. Maintains records and document actions. Initiates or annotates form or reports, such as Operator's Inspection Guide and Trouble Reports, Temporary Issues Receipt Form, Base CE Work Clearance Request Form, and updates the Civil Engineering Material Acquisition System (CEMAS) Inputs material estimates, labor in IWIMS.
