To serve as the Physical Plant Supervisor for the physical plant, buildings and grounds at a Secure Level 4 Correctional Facility housing up to 1200 prisoners. Responsible for planning, coordinating and directing staff of skilled and semi-skilled trades in a variety of building trades, mechanical maintenance and ground activities. Coordinates and directs the supervision of staff supervising prisoner work crews. Responsible for coordinating the maintenance and repairs of all Fire Safety systems and equipment. Responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all Security Systems.

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience
One year of experience equivalent to a Power Plant Supervisor 11 or Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor 11.

OR

Two years of experience as a supervisor of two or more skilled building trades; i.e. building construction, alteration, maintenance, and/or repair, including one year equivalent to a Building Trades Supervisor 11.

OR

Five years of power plant operator or maintenance mechanic experience, including two years equivalent to a Power Plant Operator 10 or Maintenance Mechanic 10; five years of building trades experience, including two years equivalent to a Building Trades Crew Leader E10; or five years of skilled trades experience, including two years of crew leader experience equivalent to the 10 level in state service.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.

This is a drug and alcohol test-designated position.
