Maintenance Manager

What will you do?

  • Develop culture of workplace safety as the priority in all cases of daily work routines for all team members.
  • Develop team members' competency through training, coaching, communication, and performance management.
  • Lead skilled trades employees in a union environment.
  • Oversee Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program. Which incudes; plan, prioritize, schedule, and manage maintenance and tooling activities (for example planned maintenance programs, shut-downs, or emergency repairs) to rectify break-downs and malfunctions and minimize business disruptions.
  • Ensure all maintenance procedures and inspections are in place and being executed effectively. Including driving maintenance logbooks and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Prioritize maintenance and repair of equipment to reduce impacts on manufacturing
  • Manage the site’s spare parts strategy; including capital related to spare parts, replenishment of maintenance crib supplies and budget for equipment.  (this position does not own the new equipment capital plan)
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
  • Apply Lean methodologies to identify continuous improvement opportunities through product/process performance metrics. 
  • Project management regarding the installation and demo of new equipment and integration into preventative maintenance programs. 
  • Allocate workload and supervise the maintenance staff
  • Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
  • Reduce costs year over year (DVC and MBC) by driving productivity and sustainability within the Maintenance and Automations groups.
  • Incorporate Training Within Industry (TWI) methods/standards for the training of maintenance and production personnel.

What qualifications will make you successful? 

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, industrial maintenance, or equivalent degree is required.
  • 5 years of experience in high-speed automated assembly, progress metal stamping and thermoset molding fabrication is preferred.
  • Hands on experience in Total Productive Maintenance systems and processes is required including: Tool crib management, training plans for Technicians (developing), writing and pushing PM development, Identify & track key stats on Maintenance (Availability, Green-to-Green, MTTF, MTTR), downtime paretos to drive downtime reduction.  Autonomous Maintenance.
  • Previous experience with lean manufacturing methodology/continuous improvement environment required.
  • Experience with Electrical, Mechanical, and Controls systems.  Thermoset Molding is a plus.   
  • Project Management experience with new equipment installs and obsolete eqiupment removals.   
  • Spare parts inventory management
  • Ability to build strong relationships, especially related to labor relations, working in a union environment is a plus.
  • Strong people skills and the desire to grow teamwork and engagement.
  • Must possess excellent analytical/problem solving abilities and good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Previous experience leading a group of individuals in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Training Within Industry methods is a plus.
