Maintenance Electrician – Machine Repair
Location: Hamilton, NJ 08619
Pay Rate: $34.25/hour
Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday–Friday | 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to support industrial machine repair and electrical maintenance operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on electrician with strong troubleshooting skills across electrical systems, automation controls, PLCs, and industrial equipment maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining complex industrial electrical systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards and electrical codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical/mechanical failures in industrial manufacturing equipment
- Safely isolate and prepare electrical circuits and systems for maintenance and repair
- Read and interpret industrial control schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Install conduit, pull/terminate wiring, and modify electrical systems as needed
- Troubleshoot and maintain:
- Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
- Motor starter circuits
- Control loops
- Switchgear
- Generators
- Protective relays
- Disconnects & busduct systems
- Install and maintain:
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- DC drives
- PLC point-to-point wiring
- Pressure, temperature, flow, and level control devices
- Troubleshoot industrial automation systems including:
- Proximity switches
- Limit switches
- Photo eyes
- Solenoids
- Relays
- Thermocouples
- Transducers
- Work with:
- AC/DC Motors
- Servo motors
- Stepper motors
- Multi-voltage control cabinets (480VAC / 120VAC / 12–48VDC)
- Support and troubleshoot Fanuc robotic systems
- Document repairs and maintenance activity in CMMS
- Communicate equipment issues and corrective actions clearly across teams
- Train apprentices and line mechanics as needed
- Maintain safe work practices and NFPA/NEC compliance at all times
Required Qualifications
Education / Certification
- Journeyman Electrician certification, Electrical License, OR equivalent technical degree required
- Minimum 3+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience

- Megohmmeters
- Hi-Pot testers
- Oscilloscopes
- Manual/electric conduit benders
- Wire/cable stripping tools
- Standard electrical hand tools
Controls & Automation
Knowledge of:
- PLC fundamentals
- Point-to-point troubleshooting
- Automation logic concepts
- Industrial controls troubleshooting
Mechanical Aptitude
Understanding of:
- Mechanical motion systems
- Belt and pulley systems
- Pneumatics
- Hydraulics
Technical Analysis
Must be able to:
- Read technical datasheets
- Compare components for compatibility
- Evaluate replacement part specifications

Physical / Medical Requirements
- Must be able to safely perform industrial electrical maintenance duties
- Must pass required medical examination (including X-ray if required)
