Maintenance & Installation Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Maintenance & Installation Engineer to support equipment installation, automation projects, process improvements, and maintenance activities within a metal forming manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for optimizing production equipment performance, supporting new equipment implementation, troubleshooting manufacturing systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and productivity.



The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with automated manufacturing equipment, and the ability to work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and support manufacturing equipment and automated production systems.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, uptime, and cost reduction.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and automation-related equipment issues.
  • Analyze equipment performance and identify opportunities for process optimization and reliability improvements.
  • Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and new automation projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, work instructions, and project reports.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for recurring equipment or process issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturing best practices during installation and maintenance activities.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs across manufacturing operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting automation projects, equipment installations, or process improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing automated production, assembly, or manufacturing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, servo-driven, motorized, and automated machinery systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience applying manufacturing design principles and engineering standards, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), design for manufacturability (DFM), and critical feature analysis.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to identify issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, process improvement methodologies, and statistical process control concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within metal forming, metal fabrication, stamping, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation controls, including PLCs, servo systems, HMIs, and related control technologies.
  • Experience supporting robotic systems and automated material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of production tooling, dies, and metalworking processes.
  • Exposure to capital equipment projects and manufacturing equipment integration.
