Machine Operator- Immediate Hiring

This role operates and sets up automated production filling lines that bottle cleaning products in a clean manufacturing environment. You will reference work orders, perform machine changeovers, adjust equipment to meet product specifications, and document all activities in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The position offers multiple shift options on a structured 4-day schedule and involves hands-on work with filling, packaging, and material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Reference work orders to set up the production line accurately for each product run.
• Lead the setup of production filling lines and operate equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
• Perform machine changeovers and adjust settings to achieve required product specifications and quality standards.
• Facilitate and lead any adjustments needed to machine settings and make basic repairs as required to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Document all activities accurately per GMP requirements using Product History Records (PHRs) and production logs.
• Inspect and verify that bottles placed on the line meet quality requirements before and during production.
• Monitor product filling and packaging equipment to ensure effective and continuous operation.
• Make necessary adjustments to ensure correct fill levels and consistent product quality are maintained.
• Identify and communicate any product that does not meet quality standards to manufacturing leaders promptly.
• Verify that all correct raw materials are used for each production run and that materials match the work order.
• Complete and submit all required documentation and production logs in a timely and accurate manner.
• Troubleshoot issues on filling equipment to restore production quickly and minimize downtime.
• Meet and strive to exceed production requirements based on the capacity for each filling line.
• Establish and maintain an appropriate work pace to consistently meet production goals and deadlines.
• Assist with the training and development of other manufacturing personnel on equipment operation and procedures.
• Follow all quality procedures and ensure that products meet established standards and specifications.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and practices in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area throughout the shift.
• Operate a forklift and pallet lift as needed to move materials, pallets, and finished goods.

• Proven experience operating production or manufacturing machinery in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on experience performing machine changeovers on production equipment.
• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for adjustments and minor repairs.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues on filling or packaging equipment.
• Experience with documentation and recordkeeping in a production setting, including logs and production records.
• Ability to perform visual inspection and quality checks on bottles and finished products.
• Experience operating forklifts and pallet lifts or pallet jacks.
• Comfort working with cleaning products and chemicals while following safety procedures.
• Ability to follow written work orders, standard operating procedures, and GMP requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and safety.
• Capability to maintain production pace and meet established output goals.
• Effective communication skills to report issues, nonconforming product, and status updates to manufacturing leaders.

• Previous experience in a filling, bottling, or packaging environment is a plus.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Product History Records (PHRs) is beneficial.
• Experience in general production and machine operation across multiple lines is advantageous.
• Background using hand and power tools for equipment setup and changeovers.
• Experience with palletizing and material handling in a production facility.
• Ability to assist in training other team members on equipment and procedures.
• Comfort working different shifts, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedules as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean production facility that manufactures and fills bottles of cleaning products. Current schedules operate on a 4-day workweek with extended shifts. The current 1st shift runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and the current 2nd shift runs Monday through Thursday from 4:30 PM to 2:55 AM. Beginning in July, the shift schedule transitions to three shifts: 1st shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 2nd shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and 3rd shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. You will work around automated filling and packaging equipment, forklifts, and pallet lifts, and regularly use hand and power tools for machine setup and changeovers. The environment is clean but includes noticeable odors from cleaning products, including bleach and other chemical cleaners, so comfort working around these smells and substances is important while following all safety guidelines and PPE requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Gurnee, IL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Gurnee,IL.
