Job Title: Machine Operator

Pay: $18-$19 an hour

Shift: 1st shift

Job Description

The Machine Operator operates, and performs changeovers on machines in a high-volume metal fabrication environment. This role primarily works with various press machines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines (primarily break press & stamp press) to produce parts that meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Perform machine changeovers efficiently, including changing tools, adjusting offsets, and reconfiguring setups between production runs.
  • Monitor machine performance during operation, identify issues, and assist in resolving minor breakdowns or interruptions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and critical dimensions.
  • Use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers to verify part dimensions and ensure adherence to tolerances.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area around the machines to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to meet production goals and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work overtime as needed, including some Saturdays to meet production demands.

Essential Skills

  • Preferred 2+ years of machine operating experience.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating machines.
  • Experience with break press or stamp press machines or similar equipment.
  • Ability to perform machine changeovers, including tooling changes and offset adjustments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Skilled in using measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime when needed.
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience (no formal education beyond this required).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a metal fabrication or machining environment.
  • Openness to cross-training on additional tasks and processes within the facility.
  • Demonstrated reliability and consistency in attendance and performance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, production-oriented setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
