Clean Harbors, Norwell, MA is looking for a Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist to join their safety conscious team! Clean Harbors is seeking a LOA Specialist to facilitate, coordinate and collaborate with all key stakeholders for Leave of Absence Management in the U.S and Canada; to include the development and deploying of non-occupational disability programs, procedures, processes and policies in order to reduce workforce absences. Identify cost effective approaches designed to meet the needs of injured and disabled employees by identifying and offering appropriate accommodation/modified work whenever possible. Contribute to build relationships with internal and vendor services to maximize and effective leave of absence processes; to include cost savings initiatives and exceptional customer service. Partner and assist with the development and education of strategies for organizational absence and disability management programs including occupational and non-occupational leaves.

  • Contribute to the development of Disability Management Programs, procedures, policies, and processes through collaborative efforts with vendors, brokers and internal teams with programs (i.e. Health and Wellness) to reduce absences due to non-occupational disability;
  • Establishes and maintains contact with injured/disabled employees, departmental staff, health providers and others in order to facilitate awareness; ensure best practices are being met and delivered;
  • Serve as a point of contact for and manage all leave inquiries, assist with educating employees and managers on the leave process (SOP) and related policies for all company leaves of absence;
  • Works in collaboration with health providers in order to define specific work accommodations for individual employees, works with staff and other to identify essential job criteria, develop accommodation options and obtain appropriate job descriptions;
  • Ensure accurate Leave of Absence (LOA) claims entry and ongoing data integrity in both the vendor and Human Resources Information Systems;
  • Contribute to the development of integrated modified work programs and processes that support proactive return to work principles;
  • Fully administer and coordinate all disability claims and processes through benefit program providers and through Company systems;
  • Assist Manager LOA services when required, participate in American Disability Association (ADA) process, align data integrity and obtain and store all documentation. Partners with various internal departments when preparing Legal Reviews;
  • Backup support for day-to-day administration of health and welfare benefits.
