Role: - Litigation Paralegal

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support a dynamic Trial and Litigation Group engaged in complex, high‑stakes matters. The practice spans constitutional law, crisis and emergency litigation (including wildfire and COVID‑19 matters), civil rights and land‑use claims, First Amendment issues, takings, eminent domain, and class actions. The team is active across all phases of litigation in state and federal courts, from initial pleadings through discovery, motions, trial, and appeal.
This role is primarily on‑site, with a limited remote component.
What You’ll Do
You will partner closely with attorneys and litigation support professionals to proactively manage cases from inception through resolution. Responsibilities include:
- Manage case lifecycle activities from filing through trial, settlement, and appeal
- Draft, review, revise, and proofread legal documents and pleadings
- Maintain organized case files, discovery logs, and indices
- Support and manage document productions and eDiscovery workflows
- Assist with deposition, hearing, and trial preparation, including exhibits and witness materials
- Cite‑check briefs and verify legal and factual citations
- Perform legal research using recognized research databases
- Coordinate with litigation support teams for document review and database management using iPro or similar platforms
- Meet an annual 1,575 billable‑hour requirement
- Travel as needed for case support and work extended hours when required
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work and bill as a paralegal under California Business & Professions Code §6450
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 5 years of recent litigation paralegal experience with a California law firm or in‑house legal department
- Strong understanding of California and federal court procedures and local rules
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Office 365, with advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, data analysis tools)
- Extensive experience with eDiscovery, document management, and production workflows
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and document review platforms
- Experience conducting legal research using Westlaw (preferred) and/or Lexis
- Exceptional organizational, time‑management, and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to ethics, discretion, and strict confidentiality
