A well-established litigation practice is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys handling complex personal injury defense matters. This position plays an important role in keeping cases organized and moving forward efficiently while providing high-quality support to attorneys and exceptional service to clients.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while assisting attorneys through all phases of litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day litigation support to attorneys throughout the life cycle of a case
- Draft and prepare legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, affidavits, correspondence, and trial materials for attorney review
- Summarize deposition transcripts and assist with case preparation for mediations, hearings, and trial
- Manage and maintain case files, ensuring documents are properly organized and accessible
- Coordinate scheduling for depositions, hearings, mediations, meetings, and trial dates across multiple calendars
- Handle electronic court filings and maintain familiarity with court procedures and deadlines
- Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and vendors
- Assist with factual investigations and organize supporting documentation for case analysis
- Support trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and coordinating logistics for hearings and trial
- Track and enter billable time and assist with case-related billing when needed
- Maintain organized document management systems and follow established file retention procedures
- Work closely with attorneys and team members to ensure cases are progressing efficiently
Qualifications:
- Paralegal certificate required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- 4+ years of litigation paralegal experience within a Texas law firm, preferably in personal injury defense
- Experience assisting with all stages of litigation, including discovery and trial preparation
- Working knowledge of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure
- Experience with state and federal e-filing procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe
- Experience with case management and document management systems such as iManage is a plus
- Typing speed of 65 WPM or higher
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Spanish bilingual skills are a plus but not required
