Litigation Associate with Path to Department Leadership

Wein Law Firm
Cedarhurst, NY

Wein Law Firm is a boutique commercial litigation and judgment-enforcement firm representing funders and creditors in New York. We are hiring a civil litigator who can step into contested matters, write well, appear in court, and grow into a leadership role. This is not a general associate position. You will not be doing basic intake or routine initial filings. This role is for a lawyer who wants real responsibility, meaningful litigation work, and a path to helping build and lead an in-house litigation department.

What You’ll Do

  • Handle contested litigation matters after an answer, counterclaim, or other substantive response is filed
  • Draft motions, oppositions, affidavits, discovery demands and responses, and other litigation papers
  • Manage NYSCEF filings, court appearances, conferences, and hearings
  • Work with per diem counsel when needed
  • Take increasing ownership over case strategy, workflow, and department operations as you grow

What We’re Looking For

  • Admitted in New York
  • 2-5 years of civil litigation experience
  • Strong legal writer
  • Comfortable with motion practice, court appearances, and independent responsibility
  • Organized, practical, and able to operate in a high-volume environment
  • Open to technology, systems, and process-driven legal work
  • Interested in growing into a leadership role over time

Strong Plus

  • Commercial litigation, collections, creditor-side, or enforcement experience
  • Admission in California, Florida, and/or Virginia in addition to New York

Why This Role Is Different

  • Direct mentorship from an experienced New York civil litigator
  • Heavy investment in automation and systems to eliminate low-value attorney work
  • Clear path toward building and leading a litigation department
  • High standards, low ego, practical work environment
