Position: Deposition Attorney

Elevate is working with a high-volume California consumer litigation firm that represents clients in vehicle warranty and defect disputes. The firm is trial-focused, fast-paced, and known for leveraging disciplined deposition practice to drive case outcomes. Depositions are a central pillar of the litigation strategy, and the Depositions Team partners closely with trial counsel to ensure cases are truly trial-ready.
Position Overview
Elevate is seeking a skilled Deposition Attorney for a full-time/permanent position on behalf of our client to support a statewide consumer litigation practice. This role is ideal for a hands-on litigator who thrives in deposition strategy, witness examination, and transcript analysis, and who enjoys working collaboratively with trial teams. The position involves managing a steady deposition schedule and playing a meaningful role in shaping trial strategy through testimony.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and conduct fact and expert witness depositions in consumer warranty and civil litigation matters
- Develop focused examination strategies aligned with overall case and trial themes
- Defend client depositions and prepare witnesses to testify clearly and confidently
- Handle deposition logistics, including exhibits, subpoenas, scheduling, court reporters, and remote platforms
- Review and analyze transcripts; produce summaries, trial designations, and impeachment material
- Partner with trial attorneys to convert deposition testimony into trial strategy and witness plans
- Draft discovery correspondence, motions, and deposition-related pleadings
- Maintain accurate calendars, case notes, and deposition records in collaboration with support staff
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients, experts, and third-party witnesses
- Travel throughout California for in-person depositions and proceedings as needed
Qualifications
- Active membership of the California State Bar
- Demonstrated experience taking and defending depositions in civil litigation matters
- Ability to prepare deposition outlines, witness-prep materials, and transcript analyses independently
- Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and evidence rules
- Excellent oral advocacy, witness examination, and legal writing skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective at managing competing deadlines
- Comfortable with both remote and in-person depositions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in lemon law or consumer warranty litigation
- Background working in high-volume litigation environments
- Trial experience or a strong interest in trial work
- Familiarity with deposition technology, transcript workflows, and court reporting A trial-driven environment where depositions directly shape case outcomes
