Marathon TS is seeking a seasoned System Administrator to support the Mission Performance & Security Systems Division. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience managing defense systems software, hardware, and network infrastructure within laboratory environments. This role is vital for enabling engineers and developers to design, integrate, and test complex mission systems in both isolated (air-gapped) and cloud-connected setups. The successful applicant will have strong technical skills in systems administration, networking, and infrastructure management, coupled with disciplined organizational and operational practices tailored for classified environments. This position demands a proactive problem solver who excels in dynamic lab settings, capable of juggling multiple systems, configurations, and priorities effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

Administer and support standalone (air-gapped) systems and cloud-connected infrastructure across various classification levels.

Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, workstations, storage solutions, and networking hardware.

Assist with the integration of complex systems including embedded hardware, simulation tools, and test platforms.

Maintain system baselines, configurations, and documentation in compliance with security policies and standards.

Enforce cybersecurity controls in line with DoD directives, such as STIGs, RMF, and CMMC requirements.

Manage accreditation efforts, including maintaining artifacts and supporting the Authority to Operate (ATO) process.

Provide hands-on support for system builds, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting within lab and test environments.

Collaborate with engineers, developers, and program teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with project goals and evolving needs.

Monitor system performance, availability, and security posture, taking proactive measures to resolve issues.

Oversee inventory management and lifecycle planning for lab assets and infrastructure components.

Support incident response activities, audit readiness, and compliance inspections.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Systems.

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

Experience:

5 to 8 years of professional experience in IT or cybersecurity fields.

5 to 8 years working in security analysis, system design, and development.

5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in both Microsoft and Linux environments.

5 to 8 years of experience providing user support/helpdesk services.

Essential Skills:

Strong written communication, research, analytical, and presentation capabilities.

Proven track record of collaborating within teams to deliver engineering solutions in IT or cybersecurity domains.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

Microsoft certifications (e.g., MSCA, MCSE).

Linux certifications (e.g., RHCE, LFCS).

Experience with Microsoft cloud platforms.

Deep understanding of network design and security within enterprise environments.

Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and practices specific to government or defense systems.
