Job Summary

The Learning & Development Consultant (Technical Trainer) is responsible for supporting the design, development, and execution of impactful training programs across the organization. This role focuses on three core areas: Learning Resources, Content and Curriculum Development, and Learning Platform Operations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with business leaders and subject matter experts to deliver engaging, effective learning solutions that enhance employee performance and support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of training programs across learning resources, curriculum development, and learning platform operations.
  • Partner with the Director of Learning & Development to establish performance objectives and track employee and program progress.
  • Identify and collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop instructional content, learning materials, and hands-on training exercises.
  • Recommend appropriate learning delivery methods (in-person, virtual, blended, etc.) to maximize knowledge transfer and engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners, managers, consultants, and trainers to ensure alignment of training initiatives.
  • Evaluate third-party training programs and assess trainer effectiveness and delivery quality through audits and feedback.
  • Monitor training utilization, engagement metrics, and resource effectiveness to ensure departmental learning needs are met.
  • Stay current with industry trends, learning technologies, instructional design methodologies, and best practices, and apply them to improve programs.
  • Develop and manage communication and marketing plans for new courses, learning initiatives, and program updates.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of learning and development principles to solve complex training challenges and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Coach and mentor peers by sharing subject matter expertise across learning disciplines within the function.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate behaviors aligned with organizational values, promoting collaboration and consensus-building.
  • Influence a range of learning, operational, and project-based activities across multiple teams.
  • Work within established policies and broad guidelines while exercising independent judgment in decision-making.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and 5–8 years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • 5–8 years of experience in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Training Delivery, or a related field.
  • Strong ability to analyze multiple sources of information and apply sound judgment to decision-making.
  • Open-minded and adaptable, with a willingness to rethink and improve existing training solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with a curious, analytical, and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Solid mathematical ability, including calculating percentages, fractions, and other business-related metrics.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.


Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Experience working with learning management systems (LMS) and digital learning platforms.
  • Background in curriculum development and instructional design methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple training initiatives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong consulting mindset with the ability to influence and guide stakeholders at all levels.
