Key Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more estimates, budgets, or pursuits simultaneously while supporting additional estimating efforts across the team.
  • Quickly identify errors, scope gaps, and exclusions in subcontractor proposals with precision and confidence.
  • Review, prepare, and validate quantity takeoffs—while coaching others to do the same.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and strategic cost evaluations at all project stages.
  • Build customized subcontractor bid lists tailored to each project’s needs.
  • Maintain strong, trust‑based relationships with trade partners.
  • Support jobsite teams with estimating expertise as needed.
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs, material pricing, and conceptual estimates.
  • Lead or participate in bid‑day compilation and analysis.
  • Review plans, specifications, and BIM models to ensure complete scope coverage.
  • Generate high‑level VE/VM logs with accuracy and strategic insight.
  • Manage and adjust bid schedules and deliverables using the Estimate Checklist to keep pursuits on track.
  • Build consensus on fee strategies and project approach.
  • Review subcontractor prequalification and evaluate prospective trade partners.
  • Assist with post‑bid buyouts when applicable.
  • Perform additional responsibilities that contribute to team and project success.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of estimating or related experience.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, and BIM models.
  • Skilled in making accurate judgments and assessing risk.
  • Proficient with estimating tools including Excel, Bluebeam, Revit, Destini, and similar platforms.
  • Solid understanding of current construction costs, market conditions, and building principles.
