Job Title: Lathe Machinist - 2nd Shift

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Lathe Machinist to join our team on the 2nd shift. This role involves operating a complex Integrex Mill-Turn Lathe, performing machine setups, making offsets and adjustments, and ensuring the quality of large, delicate parts. Key tasks include reading G/M coding and blueprints, changing out tooling, conducting first part inspections, and running metrology checks. You will also utilize an overhead crane to move parts and wash completed parts for packing.

Responsibilities

  • Program using Mazatrol software if skilled.
  • Setup and operate CNC Integrex (Mill-Turn - MAZAK).
  • Read and interpret component prints or drawings.
  • Utilize micrometers and calipers to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, and fixtures on machines using hand tools.
  • Maintain tolerances of +/- .001.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of Lathe Machining experience, preferably with Integrex.
  • Proficiency in setting up, changing out tooling, and making adjustments with an average of 2 setups per day.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand G & M code.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and gauge pins.
  • Job shop machining experience with multiple setups and change-outs per day.
  • Ability to lift 35+ pounds regularly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with overhead crane/hoist operations.
  • Knowledge of G & M Code programming.
  • Ownership of personal precision measuring tools indicating career investment.
  • Military background is a plus.

Work Environment

Work in a small, family-owned tool and die shop with a supportive and flexible environment. The position requires working the 2nd shift from 3:00 pm to midnight, offering a 10% shift premium.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
