L2 Data Center Technician
Location: Reno - NV (Onsite)
Pay Rate: $35 W2 Max
Background Check: Must be fully cleared before start date

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced L2 Data Center Technician to provide hands-on support for data center operations, server troubleshooting, hardware installations, cabling, and break-fix activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of data center infrastructure, server hardware, and networking fundamentals while maintaining high standards for documentation and operational excellence.
Candidates must be comfortable working in a rotational shift environment (No Night Shift).

Key Responsibilities
Data Center Operations
- Perform rack and stack activities for servers, storage devices, and network equipment.
- Install, relocate, and decommission hardware within the data center environment.
- Ensure proper hardware placement and adherence to data center standards.
Cabling & Infrastructure Support
- Install and manage copper and fiber cabling.
- Perform cable routing, labeling, and cable management activities.
- Replace damaged cables and re-route connections as required.
- Maintain accurate documentation of cabling and infrastructure changes.
Server Troubleshooting & Break-Fix Support
- Diagnose and troubleshoot server hardware issues.
- Isolate faults and perform break-fix activities on servers and related equipment.
- Replace defective components and coordinate warranty returns with vendors.
- Install replacement parts and perform hardware upgrades as needed.
- Update firmware and ensure systems are running supported versions.
Network & Systems Support
- Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
- Assist network administrators with:
- Server connectivity issues
- Cable replacements
- Port changes
- Optics replacement
- Hardware upgrades
- Temporarily rack, stack, and cable devices to support remote configuration activities.
Hardware Maintenance
- Order replacement hardware components as required.
- Coordinate shipment of defective parts to vendors.
- Perform preventative maintenance and hardware validation activities.
- Verify system functionality following repairs and upgrades.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Support Level 1 Data Center activities as required.
- Work closely with network, server, and infrastructure teams.
- Maintain accurate operational records and change documentation.
- Follow established procedures, safety standards, and operational guidelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4–5 years of Data Center Technician experience.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and hardware components.
- Hands-on experience with rack and stack operations.
- Experience troubleshooting server hardware and performing break-fix activities.
- Knowledge of fiber and copper cabling standards.
- Familiarity with server firmware updates and hardware maintenance.
- Basic networking knowledge including IP addressing and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting network administrators in data center environments.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in enterprise or hyperscale data centers.
- Familiarity with server, storage, and networking hardware from major vendors.
- Knowledge of data center best practices and operational procedures.
- Experience with hardware lifecycle management and asset tracking.
Work Requirements
- Onsite role in Reno, NV.
- Ability to work rotational shifts (No Night Shift).
- Ability to lift, move, and install data center equipment when required.
- Background verification must be completed successfully prior to onboarding.
