Survey and Mapping Assistant or Survey and Mapping Technician 1 (Instrument Operator)
Location: 22211 U.S. Highway 19 North, Clearwater, FL 33765
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Employees in this class operate various survey instruments in day-to-day operations of collecting data as part of a survey team performing a variety of technical tasks. Work is completed under the direction of a licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper.
The Public Works Survey and Mapping Division has a variety of customers and provides a wide range of products and services with a major focus on supporting the County's Capital Improvement Program. The Division consists of both office and field staff.
We are looking for a candidate that is action-oriented, has good communication skills, is a continual learner and has a can-do attitude. A successful employee in this position will want to learn the functions of the Division and be a real team player.

Survey & Mapping Technician 1 Instrument Operator Requirements (Salary Range: $20.09 - $25.46 per hour):
Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. Certificate.
Minimum of one (1) year operating, maintaining and calibrating survey instruments such as but not limited to robotic total stations, automatic and digital levels, RTK GPS units, and terrestrial scanners under the direct supervision of a Florida licensed Surveyor and Mapper, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Survey & Mapping Assistant (Entry Position) Requirements (Salary Range: $19.09 - $22.48 per hour):
Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D. Certificate.
Additional Requirements:
Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) driving report.
Ability to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.

Working Conditions
Based on the area of assignment, the work ranges from light to medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
