Ironworker

Job Description

This position requires an early start at 7AM and involves reading and understanding blueprints and project layouts, measuring and cutting metal parts to precise specifications, and installing or fabricating metal pieces into structural frameworks such as columns and girders. You will also be responsible for repairing or replacing existing steel parts of buildings and other structures, operating machinery like crane balls to move metal pieces into place, and ensuring all tools and equipment are clean and well-maintained. Adhering to industry and governmental safety regulations is essential.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints and project layouts
• Measure and cut metal parts to exact specifications
• Install or fabricate metal pieces into columns, girders, or other structural frameworks
• Repair or replace existing steel parts of buildings and other structures
• Operate crane ball and other machinery to move metal pieces into place
• Clean and maintain all tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good condition
• Follow all industry and governmental regulations on safety protocols

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in ironworking and construction
• Ability to perform tasks on pre-engineered metal buildings
• Experience with sheet metal, concrete, and general labor
• Skilled in carpentry and interpreting blueprints

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to hang iron and throw sheets/roofing
• Competence in general carpentry and concrete work

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
