The Integration Engineer will design, build, and maintain integration solutions that connect diverse internal and external systems across the Family Dollar organization. This role ensures seamless data flow, reliable system communication, and scalable automation using APIs, middleware, and cloud‑based integration platforms. The Integration Engineer will work closely with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions while upholding high standards for performance, security, and data integrity. The ideal candidate combines strong technical integration expertise with an understanding of retail business processes and data flows.


Key Responsibilities

  • Integration Solutions: Design and implement scalable integration patterns, including event‑driven architecture, API‑led connectivity, and cloud‑native workflows.
  • API Development & Management: Build, document, and maintain REST APIs; manage API lifecycle and enforce security best practices (OAuth2, OIDC).
  • iPaaS Configuration: Configure, orchestrate, and optimize integrations using platforms such as Sterling B2Bi, Informatica and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
  • Data Mapping & Transformation: Develop logic to translate and transform data across formats (JSON, XML, CSV, EDI) and systems.
  • Ability to swiftly learn the Family Dollar’s landscape of integration tools.
  • Troubleshooting & Testing: Create and execute unit, integration, and UAT test plans; perform root‑cause analysis on complex integration failures.
  • Cloud & DevOps Enablement: Leverage cloud services (OIC), CI/CD pipelines, containers, and IaC tools to support integration deployments.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with Supply Chain, Merchandising, Store Operations, e‑commerce, HR, Finance, Digital & Analytics, and IT teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 3–5+ years in systems integration, software development, or cloud‑native application engineering, ideally supporting retail or consumer‑goods environments.
  • 3+ years’ experience in writing integrations from various source/destinations like databases, files, message queues/topics, APIs required.
  • API & Middleware Expertise: Strong knowledge of REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and one of the middleware/iPaaS platforms such as Sterling B2Bi, Informatica and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python or Java, PL/SQL.
  • Expertise in writing SQL.
  • Cloud Knowledge: Hands‑on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Azure.
  • Data & ETL: Strong SQL skills and experience with ETL/ELT pipelines or platforms such as Informatica or Talend.
  • DevOps Tools: Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI, JMeter).
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem‑solving abilities and the ability to communicate technical concepts pertaining to integrations to IT technical stakeholders.


Preferred Technical Background

Preferred but not required

  • Experience integrating enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle RMS, Workday, or Lawson Finance.
  • Background in microservices architecture, event streaming (Kafka/RabbitMQ/Azure Service Bus).
  • Exposure to modern cloud integration services.
  • Prior experience in GraphQL, Graph Data models and Graph Databases.
  • Experience integrating operational data with Data Lakehouse.
  • Experience in integrations pertaining to Composable Architectures, AI Agent orchestrations, legacy modernization
