A national insurance defense firm is seeking Insurance Defense Litigation Attorneys at both the mid-level and senior level to join its Detroit office, with a focus on auto and trucking/transportation litigation.
We are open to candidates ranging from mid-level associates (~4–7 years) through senior attorneys (15+ years) capable of independently handling trucking matters.
These roles are tied to the Detroit office with a strong preference for in-office presence.
We are moving efficiently and can take candidates from initial conversation to decision within approximately two weeks.
Practice Focus
- Insurance defense (heavy auto + trucking exposure)
- Bodily injury, wrongful death, and complex liability matters
- Direct file responsibility and meaningful litigation ownership
- Exposure to high-value transportation cases
Responsibilities
- Independently manage a defense litigation docket from intake through resolution
- Draft pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, and legal memoranda
- Take and defend depositions
- Appear at hearings and contribute to trial preparation
- Communicate directly with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel
- Participate in case strategy, evaluation, and resolution discussions
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Michigan Bar admission required (or ability to waive in)
- 4–15+ years of litigation experience
- Deposition experience required
- Trial experience is a plus
- Strong writing and motion practice skills
Lead Trucking Attorney (Senior Level)
- Must be able to run files independently
- Strong third-party auto experience required
- Trucking experience strongly preferred
- First-party auto a plus
Associate Attorney – Auto (Mid-Level)
- Third-party auto required
- Trucking / personal auto exposure a plus
- Some first-party helpful
