Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments and job/task analyses, including focus groups and collaboration with subject matter experts, to evaluate training needs and business requirements.
  • Research, design, and develop training scope, timelines, and deliverables (e.g., presentations, job aids, user guides, quick reference guides, e-learning modules, and instructor-led training courses).
  • Interpret and translate complex technical project information (e.g., functional specifications, test scripts, vendor documentation) into training materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Manage client expectations, provide recommendations, and communicate project status updates.
  • Facilitate SME meetings and focus groups to gather information for training development.
  • Deliver train-the-trainer sessions and facilitate training as needed.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, milestones, schedules, deliverables, and resources, to support training goals and objectives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may impact training delivery.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, business, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience designing and developing systems and/or technical course materials.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to identify issues, synthesize information, and translate findings into training requirements and content.
  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SnagIt, and at least one eLearning software such as Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, or Camtasia.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with experience facilitating training sessions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external clients, management, vendors, stakeholders, subject matter experts, and team members to develop effective training solutions.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, milestones, schedules, deliverables, and resources.
  • Flexible, adaptable to change, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to work independently.
  • Proactive, organized, and a strong team player.


Desired Skills and Attributes

  • Experience working in the utility industry.
  • Familiarity with Visio and SharePoint for training development.
  • Experience developing training within Agile software development projects.
  • Background in creating training for SAP or Salesforce software implementations.
