About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist to support the company’s Certified Industrial Hygienist and provide high‑quality field, analytical, and reporting work across a variety of environmental health projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional looking to expand their industrial hygiene expertise through hands‑on project experience, mentorship, and ongoing learning.
You will conduct field investigations, environmental sampling, data evaluation, and report preparation across multiple disciplines such as asbestos, lead, indoor air quality, water sampling, and occupational exposure assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys for noise and airborne contaminants
- Perform indoor air quality assessments and mold investigations
- Perform lead and asbestos investigations
- Collect environmental samples including water for lead, copper, Legionella, and other contaminants
- Conduct respirator fit testing
- Prepare client proposals, project scopes, and sampling plans
- Prepare and review technical reports, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Support the Certified Industrial Hygienist with field investigations, data analysis, and project coordination
- Maintain thorough documentation, field notes, and chain‑of‑custody records
- Perform field inspections and ensure adherence to safety and QA/QC protocols
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to project managers and clients
Qualifications
- Three (3) or more years of experience in industrial hygiene field work preferred
- IDPH Asbestos and/or Lead Licenses required or strongly preferred, such as:
- IDPH Asbestos Inspector
- IDPH Asbestos Air Sampling Professional
- IDPH Lead Inspector / Lead Risk Assessor
- Strong technical writing skills with experience in report preparation
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple field assignments
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Comfortable conducting field work, sampling, and onsite evaluations
- Reliable personal vehicle required; mileage is reimbursable
- Valid driver’s license and availability for frequent short‑range travel
- Experience with industrial hygiene instrumentation and sampling methods
- Familiarity with OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, EPA, and IDPH guidance
Preferred Skills
- Progress toward Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential
- Experience conducting training or assisting with client education
- Proficiency using digital tools, mobile field software, or data collection platforms
