Import Manager (Air & Ocean) | Atlanta, GA | Salary up to $90,000


This role is responsible for overseeing and managing end-to-end international import operations across air and ocean freight. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments, processes, and stakeholders in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage international import shipments via air and ocean from origin through final delivery
  • Supervise and support import operations staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to procedures
  • Review and approve import documentation (e.g., bills of lading, arrival notices, commercial invoices, packing lists) for accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and import requirements
  • Manage and coordinate customs clearance processes, working closely with customs brokers
  • Act as the primary escalation point for shipment delays, customs issues, and client concerns
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, overseas agents, customs brokers, and key clients
  • Monitor shipment progress and implement solutions to resolve delays, holds, or clearance issues
  • Oversee delivery coordination and inland transportation arrangements
  • Ensure accurate billing, file closure, and maintenance of shipment records in internal systems
  • Support pricing, quoting, and cost control initiatives in collaboration with sales and pricing teams
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality


Qualifications & Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or import operations (air and/or ocean)
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or senior-level role preferred
  • Strong knowledge of import documentation and customs clearance procedures
  • Solid understanding of U.S. Customs regulations (e.g., entry filing, HTS classification basics, ISF filing for ocean shipments)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
