About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of HVAC Facility Maintenance Technician II in the Capital Management department. This department is responsible for maintaining and improving the City's public facilities and infrastructure. This role involves maintaining and repairing City buildings and facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of all occupants.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Assist with HVAC system troubleshooting, repairs, and installation.
  • Perform technical trades work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of City buildings, facilities, and/or parks.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and planned projects as assigned.
  • Ensure all buildings, equipment, and systems comply with laws, codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Perform building inspections to identify potential issues and initiate corrective actions.
  • Read blueprints and design plans for maintenance and repair projects.
  • Operate various tools and equipment such as drills, saws, and painting tools.
  • Maintain equipment and tools, ensuring they are clean and functional for future use.
  • Ability and willingness to assist other trades as needed.

About you:
We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:
  • High school diploma or GED required, supplemented by two years of experience in HVAC work, one or more building trades, or maintenance.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform essential functions and apply City/departmental policies and procedures effectively.
