Our client, a growing manufacturing organization in the Greater Chicago area, is seeking an experienced and driven Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations at its manufacturing facility. The role is central to the facility’s effective operation, covering recruitment, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and safety programs, while aligning with corporate HR initiatives and company-wide objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead full-cycle recruitment for hourly production and salaried roles, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, background checks, and onboarding. Maintain strong relationships with staffing agencies and recruiting partners.
  • Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programs, answer policy and benefit questions, and ensure compliance with employment laws.
  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance to managers and employees on workplace concerns, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
  • Performance Management: Support reviews, corrective actions, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary processes.
  • HR Records & Compliance: Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and support audits.
  • Payroll & Reporting: Process payroll, review timekeeping records, and prepare HR reports and metrics.
  • Safety Programs: Administer and support facility safety programs
  • Engagement & Culture: Partner with leadership on initiatives to improve employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture
  • Special Projects: Assist with corporate-driven projects, training programs, policy implementation, and other assigned duties

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Experience: 6–8 years of progressive HR experience; minimum 4 years in HR leadership within a manufacturing environment
  • Skills: Experience recruiting skilled manufacturing and technical employees; benefits administration; strong understanding of employment laws (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, ADA)
  • Other: Proficiency in HRIS systems, payroll processing, and safety program management; ability to work on-site
