A respected public-sector organization in Austin is seeking a Human Resources Generalist Intern to join its Human Resources team for a paid internship opportunity. This role provides hands-on experience across multiple HR disciplines while supporting meaningful projects that contribute to organizational success.


About the Role


The selected intern will work closely with experienced HR professionals and gain exposure to talent acquisition, employee engagement, compensation and classification, learning and development, workforce analytics, onboarding, and HR operations.


Responsibilities


  • Assist with recruitment activities, hiring processes, and internship program initiatives.
  • Support onboarding activities and new hire experience programs.
  • Participate in employee engagement, retention, and workforce development projects.
  • Gather, analyze, and report on workforce data, survey results, and HR metrics.
  • Assist with compensation, classification, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct research and prepare reports to support HR decision-making.
  • Develop HR communications, guides, templates, and procedural documentation.
  • Support learning and development programs, training materials, and LMS updates.
  • Assist with HR systems reporting and data accuracy efforts.
  • Collaborate with HR professionals across multiple functional areas to gain a broad understanding of human resources operations.
  • Utilize technology and AI-enabled tools responsibly and professionally in support of assigned projects.


Qualifications


  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze information, conduct research, and present findings clearly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms preferred.
  • Experience with Tableau, Canva, SharePoint, survey platforms, or other reporting tools is a plus.

Pay range and compensation package

Compensation: $18–$20 per hour
