Onsite Human Resources Representative
Position Summary
The Onsite Human Resources Representative serves as the primary HR presence at the manufacturing facility, supporting hourly and salaried employees and plant leadership. This role manages employee relations, staffing support, policy enforcement, compliance, and HR administration while fostering a positive, safe, and productive work environment. The position acts as the liaison between corporate HR and plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and workplace issues.
- Support conflict resolution, coaching, and corrective action processes.
- Promote employee engagement, morale, and retention initiatives.
- Maintain a visible, approachable presence on the plant floor.
Staffing & Onboarding
- Coordinate hourly and salaried recruiting in partnership with corporate HR.
- Support interviews, job offers, pre-employment screenings, and onboarding.
- Conduct new-hire orientations and ensure completion of required documentation.
- Manage temporary labor relationships, if applicable.
Performance Management & Discipline
- Advise supervisors on performance management, documentation, and corrective action.
- Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Support investigations related to attendance, conduct, and policy violations.
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, EEOC, ADA, FMLA, OSHA).
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
- Communicate and enforce HR policies, procedures, and handbook guidelines.
Compensation, Benefits & Timekeeping
- Support payroll processing, timekeeping accuracy, and attendance tracking.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, questions, and life-event changes.
- Coordinate leave administration (FMLA, medical leave, workers’ compensation).
Safety & Workers’ Compensation
- Partner with plant leadership and EHS on safety initiatives and compliance.
- Support incident reporting, workers’ compensation claims, and return-to-work programs.
- Reinforce safety policies and promote a culture of safety.
Training & Development
- Coordinate mandatory training (safety, harassment, compliance).
- Support skill development, leadership training, and succession planning efforts.
- Track training completion and maintain records.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Experience supporting hourly workforce and shift-based operations.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively with frontline employees and management.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with HRIS, timekeeping, and payroll systems.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable walking the production floor and working around machinery (with PPE as required).
- Flexibility to support multiple shifts or off-shift issues as needed.
