Position Overview
Bedding Industries of America is seeking a hands-on HR Manager (Generalist+) to support and execute core people operations within a manufacturing environment. This role will act as the primary HR partner onsite, responsible for managing day-to-day HR functions while also helping bring structure, consistency, and best practices across the organization.
The ideal candidate is a strong, well-rounded HR professional who can operate at a manager level without heavy people leadership, with a focus on employee relations, compliance, and workforce support. This individual should be comfortable working closely with plant leadership and supporting a high-volume, hourly workforce.
This role can be based in North Brunswick, NJ, Chicago, IL, or Los Angeles, CA.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Leadership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
- Coach managers on performance management, employee engagement, and best practices
- Foster a positive, compliant, and productive workplace environment
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and internal policies
- Maintain HR records, reporting, and documentation across the employee lifecycle
- Support implementation and consistency of HR policies and procedures across the site
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning and hiring needs
- Oversee onboarding and ensure a consistent, positive new hire experience [expertia.ai]
Payroll & Benefits (Oversight)
- Partner with internal teams or vendors to support payroll and benefits administration
- Ensure accuracy of employee data, timekeeping, and reporting
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and assist with audits and compliance
Performance Management & Training
- Support performance review processes, goal setting, and corrective action plans
- Coordinate training initiatives, including onboarding and compliance-related programs
- Identify opportunities for employee development and retention
Process Improvement & Standardization
- Identify gaps in current HR processes and implement improvements
- Help standardize practices related to onboarding, employee relations, and policy enforcement
- Support leadership in building scalable HR processes aligned with business needs
Manufacturing / Floor Support
- Maintain a visible presence on the production floor, building relationships with employees
- Partner with operations leadership to support attendance, retention, and workforce challenges
- Reinforce safety policies and support compliance initiatives in a manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or HR manager capacity
- Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or high-volume hourly workforce environments strongly preferred
- Strong background in employee relations, compliance, and HR operations
- Experience with payroll and benefits coordination/oversight (not full ownership)
- Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and hit the ground running
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred
- Experience supporting multi-site environments
- Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, UKG, etc.)
- Exposure to process improvement or building HR structure in growing organizations
Compensation
- Base Salary: $90,000 – $120,000
