Job Summary

Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School, a St. Louis Archdiocesan coeducational college preparatory high school serving grades 9–12, seeks a certified Guidance Counselor for the 2026–2027 school year. We are seeking a student-centered professional committed to supporting the academic, social‑emotional, and college/career development of scholars. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in preparing students for post‑secondary success through individualized planning, counseling services, and collaboration with families and staff. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work in an urban, college preparatory environment and possess a strong background in school counseling and student support services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Employed Person is Expected to:

  • Articulate and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, mission, and vision of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis and Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to support students’ academic, social‑emotional, and behavioral development.
  • Guide students in course selection, graduation requirements, and post‑secondary planning (college, career, and vocational pathways).
  • Assist students with college applications, scholarships, FAFSA processes, and career readiness planning.
  • Monitor student progress and use data to support academic achievement and intervention planning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.
  • Coordinate and implement school‑wide counseling programs aligned with college readiness and student wellness.
  • Respond appropriately to student crises and provide referrals to outside resources when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate student records and utilize student information systems and Google applications.

Qualifications – Required

  • Master’s Degree in School Counseling, Counseling, or a related field (required)
  • Missouri State Certification in School Counseling (required)

Qualifications – Preferred

  • Experience working with high school students (grades 9–12 preferred)
  • Experience using student information systems such as Skyward (SIS) (preferred)
  • Familiarity with National Student Clearinghouse reporting and post‑secondary tracking (preferred)
  • Strong data management and record‑keeping skills
  • Strong knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities
  • Experience supporting students in an urban and/or college preparatory environment (preferred)
  • Ability to analyze student data to inform interventions and academic planning
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment
  • Commitment to equity, student advocacy, and holistic student development

Compensation

Salary is based on degrees and years of experience (somewhat negotiable) and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
